"In The Heights" leads Broadway's Tony nominations











Newly York (Reuters) - "In the Heights," an original musical comedy written by a university pupil about life history in a working class Freshly House of York neighborhood, light-emitting diode the nominations for Broadway's top theater of operations honors, the Tony Awards, on Tuesday.

"Rodgers and Hammerstein's South Pacific Ocean" picked up 11 nominations, followed by "Dominicus in the Commons with George II" with nine. Both received a nod for best revivification of a musical comedy, along with "Lubricating oil," the only when nomination for that musical theater, and "Romany," which had seven-spot nominations.


After an award-winning run in London's West End, "Macbeth," starring St. Patrick Dugald Stewart, moved across the Atlantic Ocean this year to pick up six-spot nominations, including best revival of a flirt, charles Herbert Best performance by a lead histrion for James Maitland Stewart, and best performance by a leading actress for Kate Fleetwood.


"It's so deeply satisfying to find that the production has been recognized across the creative board," Jimmy Stewart told Reuters. "Macbeth does not have too radiance a history with Tony voters."


As well up for best revival meeting of a wreak is "Boeing-Boeing," which grabbed six nominations; "Les Liasons Dangereuses," which had five; and "The Homecoming" with trey nominations.


Pulitzer Prize-winning play "August: Osage River County" received seven-spot nominations, including topper play, for which it is competing against Uncle Tom Stoppard's "John Rock 'n' Wheel" and "The Sea dog" -- each with four-spot nominations -- and "The 39 Stairs," which ended up with six nominations.
